Do you need Google Apps to use Chromebox for meetings?
No you don’t. You can use your existing free gmail account or register a new one and still use this great product.
Do you recommend using Google Apps with Chromebox?
Yes, there are additional benefits of using Chromebox for meetings with Google Apps which does not exist with normal email platforms. One of which is that all staff can easily book the chromebox for meetings in their calendar.
Do guests need a Google/Gmail account to join the meeting?
Yes. While they don’t need to have Google Apps they need to have a Gmail account. The best options are either a Gmail, Google+ or Google Apps email account which allows them to participate in the meeting as a contributor.
If your audience doesn’t use Google then you could create generic email accounts for them to login with for the purpose of meetings (e.g email@example.com), send them an email with quick instructions on how to join and they will be in the meeting in under a minute.
If you wish to do a presentation/webinar then your audience does not need a Google/Gmail account. You could create a Google Hangout on Air and email them the live youtube URL so they can watch. Pretty much any device such as computer or laptop which has a webcam, speakers, microphone & internet connection. Almost all smartphones & tablets including iPhone, iPad, Android & Windows phone can also be used. Don’t forget you can obviously do chromebox to chromebox meetings as well.
What is the cost?
The cost is $1,450 for each Chromebox which includes a 12 month management/support licence. After 12 months, ongoing costs are $300 per year for management/support licence. Prices are inc GST. If you require Onsite Helper to install and train users, this typically takes about 2 hours and we can provide you a quote accordingly.
